Family Scholarship Program

Overview:

The employees of the Division of Business and Administration have implemented a scholarship program for the benefit of our children. The program is made possible through fundraisers and employee contributions to the scholarship fund.

Scholarship Amount:

The scholarship will provide $500 per academic year ($250 per long semester) for two years in support of educational materials. Including, but not limited to, textbooks, study guides, and supplies. Students will be required to purchase their supplies from the University bookstore located on the campus. The total number of scholarships awarded will be determined annually, based on available funding.

Eligibility:

Eligible applicants (parents or guardians) must meet the following criteria:

1.                   Be employed by a department within the Division of Business and Administration for greater than one year.

2.                   Be in good standing with the department and/or supervisor.

3.                   Have a positive performance evaluation conducted within the last twelve months.

Eligible recipients (students) must meet the following criteria:

1.                   Be the child, stepchild or legal dependant of a staff member employed by the Division of Business and Administration.

2.                   Be enrolled or accepted to enroll at Texas A&M University-Commerce for at least six credit hours. 

3.                   Have not previously received more than one award from this scholarship program.

Children or dependants of the Vice President for Business and Administration are not eligible for this scholarship.

Satisfactory Academic Progress:

Students must remain in good standing (no disciplinary problems), remain enrolled for at least six semester credit hours and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 to continue receiving the scholarship. Students whose overall GPA falls below 2.5 for two consecutive semesters will no longer be eligible to receive the scholarship.

Due Dates:

Applications will be accepted annually between April 1^st and June 30^th. Recipients will be announced by August 1^st each year.

Review Committee:

Application materials will be evaluated by a five member committee appointed by the Vice President for Business and Administration. Three members will be employees of the Division of Business and Administration and two members will be from outside the Division.
