The Department of Secondary and HIgher Education offers undergraduate courses that certify individuals to teach in the secondary school. Students should major in their teaching fields. Students with bachelor's degrees who are teaching on emergency permits should consult the Graduate Catalog for requirements leading to certification.

In addition, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education offers the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Instructional Training and Design. Majors in Instructional Training and Design prepares graduates for careers in teaching trades and industrial education, office education, and health education; and for positions in social service, criminology and technical occupations, including drafting, welding and cosmetology. A graduate with a major in Instruction Training and Design should possess: skills in human relations, public relations, supervision and management, and instructional design.
