Secondary Education 300 - The Teaching Profession (Three semester hours)

This course is designed to provide prospective teachers with a beginning foundation for understanding learners, enhancing student achievement, and understanding the teaching environment. The course will emphasize the structure, organization, management, and governance, of the American school system and current issues related to the teaching profession. The legal, ethical, and multicultural foundations of teaching also will be discussed. Thirty clock hours of professional field experience are required.

Prerequisite: Passing scores on THEA with a minimum Reading of 250.
