| Spanish 333 - Spanish for Heritage Speakers I (Three semester hours) This course is designed for heritage speakers of Spanish who demonstrate, by taking
the Spanish Placement Exam, the CLEP exam or special permission from a Spanish
faculty member (or a combination thereof), an ability to comprehend and produce Spanish
but who lack previous formal instruction in the language. Capitalizes upon students’
existing language skills, expands their knowledge base, and develops their ability to
read, write and communicate more effectively in the language. Special attention is given
to building vocabulary and strengthening composition skills in Spanish. Taught exclusively
in Spanish, and for heritage or native speakers only. For students majoring or
minoring in Spanish or bilingual education, this course replaces the Spa 331 requirement.
