English 358 - Language and Society (Three semester hours)

A study of human social behavior and sociolcultural interaction as they constratin language acquisition, use and structure. Topics include socilinguistic relativity, communicative competence, multilingualism, social and regiona dialects, speech-act types, languge styles, gender-related issues, and sociolinguistic fielc methodology.

Prerequisite: ENG 1302.
