Chemistry 211 (CHEM 2423) - Organic Chemistry (Four semester hours - 3 lecture; 4 lab) An integrated introductory
course in organic chemistry. The reactions of aliphatic and aromatic compounds
are considered in terms of molecular orbital theory; carbonium ion, carbanion
and free radical reaction mechanisms; stereo-chemistry and molecular confirmation;
and transition state theory and techniques of organic synthesis. Credit
will not be given for both CHEM 1407 and
