Chemistry 211 (CHEM 2423) - Organic Chemistry (Four semester hours - 3 lecture; 4 lab)

An integrated introductory course in organic chemistry. The reactions of aliphatic and aromatic compounds are considered in terms of molecular orbital theory; carbonium ion, carbanion and free radical reaction mechanisms; stereo-chemistry and molecular confirmation; and transition state theory and techniques of organic synthesis. Credit will not be given for both CHEM 1407 and Chemistry 211.

Prerequisite: CHEM 1412 with a grade of "C" or better or consent of the instructor.
Co-requisite: Chemistry 201.
