MyPlan for a Field-Based Secondary Teacher Certification

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers undergraduate courses that certify individuals to teach in the secondary school. Students should major in their teaching fields. Contact the department of your major (or teaching field) or the College of Education and Human Services Advising Center for advising. Students with bachelor’s degrees who want to teach should consult the Graduate Catalog for requirements leading to certification.

Before participating in the Internship/Residency Semester, the student teaching candidate must have completed the following courses:
SED 300 - The Teaching Profession
Psy 300 - Learning Processes and Development
ETec 424 - Integrating Technology into the Secondary School
Rdg 380 - Comprehension and Vocabulary in Middle and High Schools

To monitor your progress in achieving your certification, print the following list and check off the courses you have completed. You will then be able to determine the courses you need to complete in order to reach your certification goal.
