The mission of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice is to provide quality academic and practical learning experiences to equip students with social, intellectual, leadership and research skills that will serve them in a wide variety of careers.

The department offers several majors which prepare students for entry into a variety of careers or graduate professional study. In addition to a major in minor in sociology, students may select a broadfield major in criminal justice or a minor in criminal justice. Also, a number of courses in anthropology are offered in the department.
