Deans Council Meeting

Attendance: Dr. Gary Peer, Dr. Hal Langford; Dr. David Crenshaw and Dr. Sandy Weeks (attending for Dr. Brent Mangus). Absent from the meeting was Dr. Allan Headley and Dr. Mangus.
Service Standards – College Service Standards are due to the Provost no later than today.
Procedure 12.01.99.RO.01 Academic Freedom, Tenure and Responsibility- Deans Council planned to continue their review of the proposed tenure and promotion procedure, however, due to limited time at this meeting, arrangements were made to complete the review on Friday, May 29.
Board of Regents and Chief Academic Officers Meetings - Interim Provost Peer provided Council members with updates recently received while recently attending the Chief Academic Officers and Board of Regents Meetings on May 20-22, 2009.
60 Hour Rule – Dr. Mangus requested an exception be granted for COEHS to the 60 hour rule for Department of Curriculum & Instruction’s EC-6 program. Following discussion, Deans Council approved COEHS’ request and that the wording remain consistent with current wording in the catalog and with current practice of peer institutions in Texas. Wording will be developed to reflect the approved exception and forwarded to the President for review/approval.
Summer School Faculty Costs – Dr. Peer distributed results of the recent Summer School Faculty Costs Survey that was recently conducted.
Construction Engineering - Dr. Randy McBroom, Interim Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Langford, Dean of College of Business and Technology, and Dr. Brent Donham are currently updating the Construction Engineering proposal for submission to the Board of Regents.
