Attendance: Interim Provost Gary Peer, Dr. Hal Langford, Dr. Brent Mangus, Dr. David Crenshaw, Dr. Allan Headley, and Dr. Randy McBroom. Minutes taken and submitted by Cynthia Rhodes.

Sixth Year Probationary Faculty - Following review and discussion, the Provost and Deans reviewed and voted on sixth-year probationary faculty.

Procedure 12.01.99.RO.01 Academic Freedom, Tenure and Responsibility- Dr. McBroom and Dr. Singh, Faculty Senate President, are currently working together regarding revisions to this procedure. All council members agreed that the following should be addressed in the revision:

In addition to an annual faculty review, in-depth post tenure reviews should be completed;
Standards or matrix for in-depth post tenure reviews should be identified; and,
Procedures should be developed for measuring the standards.

A Study of Online Learning at TAMU-C (White Paper) – Discussion was held regarding the White Paper “A Study of Online learning at TAMU-C” prepared by Drs. Julie McElhany and Leah Wickersham. Council members are to forward their comments to Dr. Peer for each recommendation listed in the paper.

Carnegie Foundation - U. S. Professors of the Year Award Program – Interim Provost Peer shared information regarding the Carnegie Foundation awards program. These awards honor the nation’s best undergraduate teachers and Dr. Peer feels TAMU-C has faculty that meet the criteria and are deserving of the award. Council members were encouraged to nominate outstanding professors in their colleges. www.usprofessorsoftheyear.org
