STARLAB Main

The Portable Planetarium

For those unable to attend the planetarium at Texas A & M University-Commerce, we have available a STARLAB portable planetarium. STARLAB is composed of an inflatable dome and a cylinder projector.  The dome sets up in minutes and is able to accommodate up to 30 students or 20 adults. Inside the dome, the cylinder projector allows us to view the night sky of approximately 3000 stars devoid of any light pollution; and it can take us on a journey to see the night skies from the South Pole to the Equator and on to the North Pole. Through the interchangeable cylinders, the STARLAB can be used to explore the southern skies and constellations as well as observe our whole galaxy and study the Solar System.  STARLAB can also serve as a great vehicle for exploring different cultures and by changing the cylinder again we can see how the constellations looked to the ancient Greeks. See the STARLAB Details link for more information.
