PROUD MORNING -- This was the scene as part of the audience looked at the stage and podium at the dedication of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Science Building and Planetarium on April 4. The ceremony took place in the bright sunshine at 10:30 a.m. on campus. Speaking at the podium is Brian Rodgers, senior biological sciences major from Farmersville and a graduate of Merit High School.

FORMER ASTRONAUT SHRIVER SPEAKS AT DEDICATION

SCIENCES LAUDED -- Retired Air Force Col. Loren J. Shriver, former astronaut who served as commander of the 1990 Space Shuttle mission that deployed the Hubble Space Telescope, speaks at the dedication of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Science Building and Planetarium. For manned space travel to advance in the 21st century, Americans must put emphasis on education in the sciences and technology. Shriver commended A&M-Commerce for constructing the $28 million state-of-the-art Science Building.
