Q. I have a student worker who
says he/she will qualify for work-study
or that he/she is on a waiting
list. Can I hire the student as
work-study?
A. Students may not be paid under the federal work-study
program
until they received approval from the Financial Aid Office and the
eligible
Work-Study Student Employees must have a Work Permit
for employment
under the Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP).
Q. The hours awarded to the
student is not enough, can the
work-study student work beyond the allocations
if I need him/her?
A. Federal work-study funds cannot be used to pay the student
while
he/she was not considered fully eligible to use work-study funds.
The department will assume full fiscal responsibilities if the student
exceeds the student’s federal work-study allocation.
Q. Can a Work-Study Student
Worker work during the break?
A. You must contact the Financial Aid Director for approval.
