Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
I have a student worker who says he/she will qualify for work-study
or that he/she is on a waiting list.  Can I hire the student as
      work-study?

A.  Students may not be paid under the federal work-study program
until they received approval from the Financial Aid Office and the
eligible Work-Study Student Employees must have a Work Permit
for employment under the Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP).

Q.  The hours awarded to the student is not enough, can the
work-study student work beyond the allocations if I need him/her?

A.  Federal work-study funds cannot be used to pay the student while
he/she was not considered fully eligible to use work-study funds.
The department will assume full fiscal responsibilities if the student
exceeds the student’s federal work-study allocation.

Q.  Can a Work-Study Student Worker work during the break?

A.  You must contact the Financial Aid Director for approval.
