Major in Sociology with Global Emphasis:
A major in Sociology with Global Emphasis is designed for students interested in or planning to work in a multi-cultural and/or multi-national setting. The Office of International Studies has a broad listing of courses that can be applied to this program. Students selecting this major option must also complete a minor.
A student majoring in Sociology with Global Emphasis wants to focus more on the diversity, international and multi-cultural ideas that confront our society. This major permits a wider exposure to other cultures, world-wide ideological thinking, and engages the student in an exploration of the connectiveness or the interdependence of societies. The student becomes familiar first hand with cultural relativity and ethnocentrism.

Soc 111 Introduction to Sociology
Soc 331 Introduction to Social Research
Soc 332 Intermediate Methods of Sociological Analysis
Soc 436 Sociological Theory
Soc 485 Senior Seminar in Sociology
Plus the Following 15sh from:
Soc 318 (Urban Sociology and Anthropology), Soc 335 (Global Social Issues); International Studies 3-9sh*; or 6sh of advanced sociology if only 3sh of International Studies are taken.
