The Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Texas A&M University-Commerce uses an Advanced Generalist model of social work practice. Students in the program learn to engage in social work practice with individuals, families, small groups, organizations and communities.
Advanced Generalist education prepares social workers to function in direct practice with individuals, families and groups, to provide supervision and administration, and to become leaders in their communities. Graduates are taught to do planning, development, and coordination of social service programs. The sequence is organized around field practicum experiences in which students apply classroom knowledge in actual practice settings. Students will be invited to attend an orientation to plan their degree and consider full vs. part time .
