Social Health, Wellness, Alcohol, and Tobacco Teachers, Educators, Advocators, and Motivators (S.W.A.T. T.E.A.M.) are a group of peer educators on campus. They promote responsible behavior as well as awareness about many wellness issues to the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus. Some topics that they cover are alcohol education, safe and responsible alcohol use for those that choose to drink, drug education, sexual health education, safe and responsible sexual behavior for those that choose to be sexually active, eating disorder awareness, healthy relationships, stress relief, safe travel over spring break, and much more!
S.W.A.T. T.E.A.M. accepts applications for new membership towards the end of each semester. The current President is Lajasley Ray, the Vice President is Onikeh Brown and the advisor is Shelly Matikiewicz.

S.W.A.T. T.E.A.M. is an affiliate of BACCHUS and GAMMA, a national peer education network. the purpose of BACCHUS and GAMMA is to Boost Alcohol Consciousness concerning the Health of University Students (BACCHUS) and Greeks Advocating for Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA) is the oldest student organization committed to education, training, and support for peer prevention on college campuses. BACCHUS and GAMMA believes that within the campus community, students can play a uniquely effective role unmatched by professional educators - by encouraging their peers to consider, talk honestly about, and develop responsible habits, attitudes, and lifestyles regarding alcohol, drugs, and related life issues.
BACCHUS and GAMMA is an organization that promotes responsible behavior from faculty, staff, and students. This organization strives to motivate the university community into examining new methods for combating problems associated with alcohol and other drug use. BACCHUS and GAMMA seeks to have a direct effect on the entire campus community through awareness and education about important campus issues.
S.W.A.T. T.E.A.M. is available to present educational sessions on Alcohol Education to student organizations. If an organization is interested in having them present please contact Shelly Matikiewicz at shelly_rae@tamu-commerce.edu.
