| A
lightning prediction system, Thor-Guard, was installed
at Texas A&M-Commerce in the fall of 2003. Our University
relies on this system to inform us when it is unsafe to
be outside due to the possible risk of lightning. The system
predicts when conditions are ideal for lightning strikes;
therefore, when the alarm sounds (one 15-second horn blast)
Campus Recreation staff members should have a 2-minute
period for getting individuals (teams, campers, students,
etc.) to appropriate shelters. For more information, see
the Policies & Procedures. |
