Programs in Political Science
The Department of Political Science at Texas A&M University--Commerce features programs in two tracks. The General Political Science Emphasis includes classes in American Politics, Comparative Politics and International Relations, and Political Theory. It provides a flexible major or minor for students planning careers in government, law, teaching, business, or practical politics. The Paralegal Studies Emphasis provides specialized classes to prepare students to work in law offices as paralegals. Practicing attorneys teach courses in Family Law, Real Estate Law, Business Law, Probate, Legal Research, and other areas. It is a highly successful program for a field with a growing job market. Our program is the only one in Texas approved by the American Bar Association offering a bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies.
The TAMU-C Political Science Department has a faculty that is dedicated to helping each student reach his or her potential. Classes are small to moderate in size, allowing for lots of discussion and special activities. The program is not easy. But students who complete it can take pride in knowing that they have succeeded in one of the University's most challenging courses of study.
