Abstract : The nuclear equation of state (EOS), which is the relationship among several state variables of a nuclear system (e.g. a heavy nucleus or a neutron star) plays an important role in various terrestrial and astrophysical nuclear processes. For instance, it governs the dynamics of heavy-ion reactions in relativistic colliders, the properties and structure of neutron stars, and the mechanism of supernova explosions. Moreover, in the extreme environment found in a neutron star interior, the nuclear EOS provides a link between the physics of strong interactions and Einstein's theory of General Relativity. In this talk I will outline our recent progress on different aspects of the hadronic EOS and also its application as a tool to constrain possible time variations of the gravitational constant G.
