2008 CAMP SCHEDULE:

ALL-STATE CHOIR CAMP SCHEDULE (Word)

Please note:  The schedule is subject to change.

All-State Choir Camp is a long standing tradition at Texas A&M University-Commerce.  The choir camp excels at early preparation of the All-States music for the Texas Music Educators Association sponsored auditions. Students will receive training in diction and performance practices for the pieces, in addition to SATB sectionals, SA/TB sectionals and full rehearsals each day. The camp  Swim Party, Planetarium, Banquet and Dance are our evening activities for the campers. The camp culminates with a performance of the All-State pieces on the final day of camp.

Camp Faculty

Clinicians are Dr. Christopher White,  Roger Bryant and DeeAnn Gorham from the Texas A&M-University Commerce Choral Department.

We are please to have a camp staff from across the state of Texas. Each faculty member is an outstanding music educator that has experience and expertise in teaching students in grades 6-12.

Camp Counselors

Our Camp Counselors are selected from the best music students at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Most counselors are majoring in music education and will be future music teachers. The counselors are housed in the dorm with the students and supervise the students during their activities while at camp. We also have a Dorm Mom and Dorm Dad that are adult music educators in the public schools that are housed in the dorms.

Musical and Social Activities

The evening activities will include a swim party, planetarium trip, banquet and dance.

Final Concert

The last day of camp, there will be a free concert featuring the music that the students have rehearsed all week. Parents and friends are encouraged to attend.

Meals

Meals are served at the Memorial Student Center on the campus. The casual banquet will be held the last night of camp. It will take place in the ballroom of the student center with a dance to follow. Only students attending the camp are permitted to attend. The first meal that we provide is breakfast on Monday, so you should plan on having dinner with your parents or sponsor on Sunday evening.

Campers are housed in the dorms on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Campers may request a roommate on their application.  Roommates must be same gender.

Refund Policy

Tuition is non-refundable unless we receive written notice of cancellation at least three days before the commencement of camp. The $50.00 registration fee is non-refundable.

Medical and Media Release

Summer Music Camps will provide campers with medical attention if either you or we deem it necessary. Each camper must have on file the “Summer Music Camps Medical Release Form” (found on the website). This form must be signed by the parent/guardian. We cannot process the application without the medical form. An excellent medical staff is on duty both at the TAMU-C Infirmary and the Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce.

Pre-existing conditions (asthma, prior injuries, etc.) and orthodontia (braces) are not covered by our insurance policy and are therefore the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

Partial List of Rules for campers

1) For safety reasons, campers are to remain on university property at all times, with the exception of the Exxon station next to Whitley Hall.
2) With the exception of commuters, no camper is allowed in any motor vehicle other than camp or university security vehicle (this includes sponsor’s vehicles!)
3) Unless there is a genuine emergency, do not push call buttons on emergency phone and do not dial “911” and do not activate fire alarms. These are criminal offenses and we will not hesitate to press charges.
