Thank you for visiting the Texas A&M University - Commerce Flute Studio webpage! We are excited that you would like to participate in our seventh annual Flute Christmas Caroling with the Greater Dallas Flute Ensemble. The purpose of this page is to answer some frequently asked questions about Flute Caroling.
What is the Greater Dallas Flute Ensemble?
The Greater Dallas Flute Ensemble is a group of young flutists who have been playing together as a flute choir since our first Christmas caroling event in December of 2004.
Who is allowed to perform in Flute Caroling?
This event is open to all flutists in the DFW metroplex. We are comprised of mostly high school and college aged players, but are open to any flutists who play at least at a high school level.
Where/when is the rehearsal?
The rehearsal will take place on Saturday, December 18th, from 9:00 in the morning until 11:30. We rehearse at the Wylie High School.
Where/when are the performances?
The performances are on the afternoon of Saturday, December 18th.

3:00 Plano

You will need to contact Professor Goranson, the director. The best way to do this is through email: jocelyn_goranson@tamu-commerce.edu. When you write, be sure to include some information about yourself: your age, your school, how long you have been playing the flute, your teacher’s name (if you study privately), your contact information, etc.
Additionally, tell us a little about your flute playing. Did you make all-region band? Are you third chair at your school? Did you make a "1" on a Class 1 solo at UIL Solo & Ensemble? Also, if you love playing your flute, but prefer to have an easier part that's less exposed, let us know. There is room for all types of performers!
What do I need to bring?
Bring your flute and a music stand. For the performances, the dress is Christmas-dressy.
How much does Flute Caroling cost?
The purpose of this event is to give back to the community. Because you are donating your time and efforts, we feel it is important to reward your generosity. Flute Caroling is free - we just want to have a wonderful time sharing beautiful Christmas music with other enthusiastic flutists and spreading this enthusiasm to our community!
We hope this page has answered most of your questions. If there is something here we have not addressed, feel free to email Mrs. Goranson. Your question may help us to create a more informative webpage! Take a few moments to view the "Photos" link at the top of the page. You will see some pictures from past Flute Caroling events.
If you are a Facebook user, look up “Fute Caroling with the Greater Dallas Flute Ensemble” under events, and join the group of people who have already decided to participate!
Thank you again for visiting. We look forward to hearing from you!
