Spring 2012 Jazz Ensembles Audition Information
Spring auditions for The "Mane" Attraction Jazz Ensemble, Blue Cat Big Band, and jazz combos will be held on Tuesday, January 17th. ( Room and times will be posted in the Music Building during the week prior to auditions). These ensembles are open to all undergraduate and graduate students at A&M-Commerce, regardless of academic major. You will be responsible to provide your own copy of the excerpts at your audition time. Please prepare the excerpts as close to performance tempo as possible without sacrificing the accuracy.
Auditions for The "Mane" Attraction Jazz Ensemble will be for the following instruments:
Vocals, Bass, Guitar, Drums, Vibes, Piano, Trombone, Trumpet and Saxophones
Auditions for The Blue Cat Big Band and jazz combos are open to ALL instruments, regardless of whether or not they are traditionally considered to be jazz instruments.
Excerpts (please download and print):
Saxophones (Please play the excerpts specific to the saxophone on which you audition)
Trombones (and all unlisted bass clef instruments)
Trumpet (and all unlisted treble clef instruments)
VOCALISTS: Please bring in a slow and uptempo standard to sing, including one copy of the songs for us.
