Auditions for the Spring 2008 Texas A&M-Commerce Choirs will take place Jan 14 and 15.  We hope you choose to be a part of the long and distinguished tradition of great choral singing in Commerce.  Read through the information below to find out what we have to offer this Spring:

The four ensembles that will be offered this semester are: Select Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Bluebonnet Chorus.  The Chamber Singers is our madrigal/chamber ensemble devoted to preparing the best literature for one or two voices per part.  For those who don’t need academic credit, the Bluebonnet Chorus is an ensemble open to the entire University community, presenting two major concerts each year with orchestra.  The Select Chorale is the top choir at Texas A&M-Commerce, rehearsing six hours per week and presenting a minimum of two concerts per semester.  This group also tours throughout the state of Texas each year, as well as presenting major works with orchestra. 

 Don’t worry if you have already registered for a choir or find you want to be in a different group.  Changes can be made to your schedule until the second week of classes-just come sing for us!

Every student who wishes to be a member of the Texas A&M-Commerce Chorale and  Chamber Singers must sing for Dr. Witwer.  Rest assured, EVERYONE will be placed in a choir at this University.  Each “interview” will take about 5-10 minutes. After a few questions, students will sing “My Country Tis of Thee.”  If you don’t know that selection, then you can sing Happy Birthday!  You will also sight read something to see where you will be most successful in our choral program.

Times for this placement interview (5-10 minutes each) will be held January 14-15 from 10am-3pm in MUSIC 221 (my office).  You can either sign-up for a time on my office door (MUS 221) OR contact our choral graduate assistant (903) 866-5278 with a list of times that are possible for you meet with me. When you come for your interview, you can fill out a short data form to help me get to know you better.
