Dr. Mintu-Wimsatt was a faculty member at the Department of Marketing and Business Environment at Florida International University prior to joining TAMU-Commerce in 1992.

Since joining TAMU-C, Dr. Mintu-Wimsatt has been recognized both in international marketing research and teaching.  She is a tenured full professor.  Of her accomplishments, Dr. Mintu-Wimsatt is most proud of her Paul W. Barrus Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching and H.M. Lafferty Distinguished Faculty Award for Scholarship and Creative Activity.  Dr. Mintu was also named in the 2004 Texas Monthly’s Guide to Texas Colleges & Universities as one of the best classes to take at TAMU-C.  For her, these awards are manifestations of her "passion" for teaching and hard work in research.

As the old adage goes, "one has to maintain a good balance between work and family."  While work is important, Dr. Mintu-Wimsatt is simply "Mrs. Wimsatt" or "Mom" outside TAMU-C.  In the grand scheme of things - her family will always come first!  She is married to John, Senior Vice President for Broadband Solutions, Verizon Communications.  John and Alma have a son, Mark Andrew, and a daughter, Lauren Elizabeth.
