will speak on:

Ramsey techniques in Banach spaces

Abstract:
Ramsey type theorems seek existence of certain regularities in a substructure of a given (usually large) structure. For instance, given any finite coloring of some mathematical structure (such as graphs or a set of n-tuples from a sequence of vectors in a Banach space), there is a substructure (hence a subgraph or a set of n-tuples from a subsequence) which is monochromatic. In this expository talk we will discuss some Ramsey theorems and their impact on problems in the geometry of Banach spaces.

All students and faculty are welcome to attend!
