Ramsey techniques in Banach spaces
Abstract:
Ramsey type theorems seek existence of certain regularities in a
substructure of a given (usually large) structure. For instance, given
any finite coloring of some mathematical structure (such as graphs or a
set of n-tuples from a sequence of vectors in a Banach space), there is
a substructure (hence a subgraph or a set of n-tuples from a
subsequence) which is monochromatic. In this expository talk we will
discuss some Ramsey theorems and their impact on problems in the
geometry of Banach spaces.
