Spelling Bee Format |
The issue of not having event sign in sheets posted with sufficient anticipation for students to sign up was discussed.
The food to be judged was in an open area which did not allow for judges to have isolated judging time.
The first session this year was the Spelling Bee which was difficult for some to attend. There were also time concerns with the Reading Comprehension tests.
There were expectations of the format of the Spelling Bee which were different from the format of the event. |
It is determined that for 2010 we either need to request more stands or fabricate stands for sign in sheets. It is determined that for 2010 the Spelling Bee and Reading comprehension could use an alternating time format offering three sessions of each throughout the day. It is determined that for 2010 the Spelling Bee students will write down the words after they are listened to via digital recordings.

New Business |
Although the following items were on the agenda, due to time constraints, they were not addressed: 1. Suggestions for updating/improving Net Olé web site (e.g. inclusion of more audio entries) 2. Finances: cutting costs (medals/ribbons?), increasing fees (were increased in 2007) 3. Events to add/eliminate. 4. Changes to the Judges Rating Sheet for Vocal Events. 5. Judges’ sheet needs to include that students do not have to place if their performance or presentation is insufficient. 10. Please be persistent about awards. We have plenty of ribbons, and we want the students to get what they have won, but we need you to let us know.
