East Texas - Normal Ephemera

This is an artificial collection that was begun in response to donations of East Texas State ephemera. In some instances, the donor is known; in others, it is impossible to tell who donated said items. Many of the items in this collection were dedicated by Ted Crim. This collection is on-going and as such, this finding aid is subject to change.

College Orations, 1901, W.L. Mayo

Correspondence: James G. Gee

Correspondence

Included in this folder are two letters and two mis-matched envelopes (dated much too late to be the enclosures of the two letters). One letter references a speech made by James G. Gee and appears to be an editorial-style letter addressed to the Faculty, Student Body, Alumni and Friends of East Texas State. It is a scathing indictment of James G. Gee and his conduct as president of the university. This letter is undated, but was written post-November, 1963 as that date is referenced in the letter. This letter is unsigned.

The other is a letter from James G. Gee himself, is written to Dr. Charles S. Rohrer, head of the Department of Chemistry, and references a doctoral candidate by the name of Mr. Lewis C. Sams. This letter is dated June 29, 1960.

Also included is the original receipt. Please note that only one small pennant has been included in the collection as the others were ruined by noxious fumes from an ink well that was originally stored in the same box.
