Collections – Digital Collections
Digital collections use computers to store, and make accessible, materials that have been created in electronic format. Collections may be composed of text, images, sounds, videos, or a combination of those. The Digital Collections Department is located on the second floor of James G. Gee Library, on the campus of Texas A&M University – Commerce.
Adam Northam, Digital Collections Librarian, has written Suggested Minimum Guidelines for Creating Quality Digital Objects. The document is available to all interested parties. If referenced please provide proper citation.
Collin County Historical Society
The Collin County Historical Society Collection consists of items collected by the Collin County Historical Preservation Group. The collection will contain photographs, documents, and other materials of local, historical significance.
National Conversation on Writing
The National Conversation on Writing is a collection of materials from everyday people that focuses on various aspects of personal and/or academic writing such as what motivates someone to write, and the process they use to express their ideas. The collection is composed of text, images, audio, and video.
Northeast Texas History & Genealogy Center at W. Walworth Harrison Library
The Northeast Texas History & Genealogy Center at W. Walworth Harrison Library Collection is being developed in cooperation with the W. Walworth Harrison Public Library in Greenville, Texas. The collection will contain photographs, documents, and other materials of local, historical significance.
No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum (British Museum)
A small selection of digital images from the museum located in Terrell, Texas.
World War II Collection
The World War II Digital Collection is comprised of materials from, and related to the World War II Era. Items in the collection range from documents, letters, and photographs, to video clips of contemporary interviews with veterans and families. Some of the material for the World War II Digital Collection resides in the Special Collections Department of James G. Gee Library on the campus of Texas A&M University – Commerce, but the vast majority of the items belong to veterans and/ or their families. The goal of this collection, and the material within, is to present a broad view of the war, including how it affected those who fought directly, as well as those who experienced it in other ways, whether they were factory workers producing munitions, or children in school.
