Returns
Borrowed library materials are to be returned to the Circulation Desk at the Gee Library, Commerce campus or the Metroplex campus in Mesquite. The libraries provide an outside bookdrop for returns when they are closed.
Overdue Fines
Fines are assessed at $.25 per day per item to a maximum of $10.00. Reserve book fines are $1.00 per day. Unpaid fines may result in the suspension of borrowing privileges. Failure to pay fines or to resolve charges for damaged or lost items may result in the withholding of grades, transcripts, or the blocking of registration. Damaged or lost book charges are the replacement cost of the book plus a $15.00 processing fee.
Library patrons who are delinquent and/or are determined by the Circulation Coordinator or Library Director to be high-risk patrons, will not be allowed to charge library material or their book check-out privilege may be limited.
Library Notices
E-mail overdue notices are sent after an item is one day late and a second notice is sent after ten days. E-mail notices are sent as a courtesy and failure to receive a notice does not constitute a basis for altering or clearing a fine. Library patrons are responsible for updating their E-mail address through MyLeo.
Holds and Recalls
Holds may be placed on items that are checked out to another patron. When the item has been returned the patron who placed the hold will be notified. The item will be held for seven days at the circulation desk. All items loaned to patrons are subject to recall. Patrons are notified of recalls by phone or mail.
Traces
When an item is not found on the shelves and not charged to another patron, the circulation staff will place a trace for the material. When the item is located it will be held for the requesting patron and a notice will be sent. If the material cannot be found, the requesting patron will be notified and the title will be reordered or the patron may request the Interlibrary Loan Department to order the material. An interlibrary loan request will be subject to the policies of that department.
