| 2. Login.. |
This is the login page.

It is very important that you type in a valid email address, otherwise your comments will not be registered. When visiting again make sure to type in the email address that had been previously used. This will help to retreive your comments and suggestions entered previously.
Select the Department you are associated with. It is important that you select a Department.
Select your Status. For example: faculty, staff, graduate, undergraduate, others.
| 3. Setting Preferences. |
After you log in you should see the following screen. This screen will help you to set your preferences.

First you must select an AREA , SUBJECT, & SUBTOPIC to proceed further.
You may choose to set other options. If you choose not to, the default values shown in the box will be used.
Sorted By - Either order it alphabetically by title (Journal Title) or by Library of Congress call number (LC Order).
Default is Journal Title.
View - Either view all journals in print as well as electronic format (All) or view journals in print format (Print Only).
Default is All
Records - Select the number of records you want to view at a time (10, 25 or 50).
Default is 25
IMPORTANT - To save your preferences click on the button .
| 4. Viewing & Rating Journals. |
This is a typical snapshot of what you will view after selecting your preferences.

The first set
is the rating scheme. The values of the button from left to right are as follows:
0. Unaware, 1. Detrimental, 2. Unimportant, 3. Valuable, 4. Significant, 5. Essential .
The Default selection is Unaware. Click the radio button that adequately describes the value of the journal title to your classes or research.
The second set
records your preference for the format in which you want the journal to be available:
1. Electronic, 2. Print, 3. Both.
Clicking on the link will take you either to the journal itself or to the provider's website from which the journal can be selected..
Changes are registered when you navigate to the
page or return to the
page.
If you wish to stay on the same page but still save the changes then click on button .
IMPORTANT - Radio button changes are documented only if you click on one of the threee buttons shown above.
| 5. Popup Comment Window. |
To the far right of every journal title there is a
icon. Click on it to open a comment window as shown below.
Note: The header in the window identifies the journal title and your email address.
This window will include the Journal Title and Your Email address.
IMPORTANT - To save your comments it is necessary that you click on the button. The window will then automatically close.
| 6. Search for Journal Title. |
You may search for a specific title. Either click on the icon
or scroll down to the bottom of the Journals Review Page.
Enter your keywords in this search box. All Titles in the database will be searched for the keywords you enter. This is a Keyword or a Key phrase search, so you may enter the full jounal title, a portion of the journal title, or a single word. For example, any of the following searches will locate the Journal of Applied Physics. However, while the first example retrieves one journal only, the other three searches retrieve a group of titles all of which contain the entered phrase in their title.
- Journal of Applied Physics
- Journal of Applied
- Applied Physics
- Physics
The search will display the results based on your search criteria as shown below:

Search Tips:.
- Do not use puntuation, except for apostrophes that occur in title words. Also do not use parentheses to group search terms.
- If you wish to search for the keywords computer and education NOT computer and educational please enter
computer and education NOT computer and educational.
- computer and science or finance will be evaluated as
(computer and science) OR finance.
- Do not use shorthand for Boolean connectors. Write out the word: AND, OR, NOT. These words need not be capitalized
- Prepositions signal phrases. For example About Women on Campus will be evaluated as a phrase.
7. LogOut & TimeOut.To end your session, click
. Sessions will automatically end after 60 minutes of inactivity. If your session times out, you will see the following screen:
Click on the link Sign In Again to continue reviewing the journals.
Remember that you may login and log out as many times as you need to complete your evaluation.
8. Explanation of Symbols.
-- If a particular journal has additional notes then they can be viewed by hovering on this icon. The symbol occurs only if there are notes.
-- To give comments on a particular title click on this image besides the Journal Title. A new window will pop up. For more information Click here.
