COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT POLICY

GENERAL PURPOSE & SCOPE
The James G. Gee Library collection supports the curriculum and research needs of faculty and undergraduate and master’s students in the subject areas of sociology and criminal justice.

The sociology curriculum includes social problems and issues in various populations, deviant behavior, social psychology, school and drugs and society, sociological theory, crime and delinquency, data analysis, criminal law. Undergraduate and master’s majors and minors are offered. State certification programs at the undergraduate level are accredited by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification.

The criminal justice curriculum includes police and law enforcement; criminal investigation, law, ethics; corrections. Undergraduate majors and minors are offered.

The anthropology curriculum includes gender studies, world cultures, urban and social anthropology. Undergraduate elective courses are offered.

The collection emphasis is on purchasing current material for research and undergraduate and graduate curricula.
