COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT POLICY

 

GENERAL PURPOSE & SCOPE
The James G. Gee Library collection supports the curriculum and research needs of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students and faculty in the subject area of secondary and higher education (SHED). The curriculum includes teaching and learning styles; career and technology education; instructional leadership, resources and environment; computer literacy; technology in the classroom; curriculum development; gifted and talented; curriculum; community colleges; history and philosophy of education; finance, governance, administration, curriculum, law in higher education; research methods; instructional technology, delivery, design, production, administration; library science reference, cataloging, collection development, children’s and young adult literature. Undergraduate study emphasizes teacher education. Emphasis is on master’s and doctoral level curricula and on certification and endorsement programs at the master’s level. These programs are accredited by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification.

GENERAL SUBJECT BOUNDARIES
The collection development emphasis is on purchasing current material for research and for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral curricula.
