GENERAL PURPOSE & SCOPE
The James G. Gee Library collection supports the curriculum and research needs of undergraduate and master’s students and faculty in the subject areas of health, kinesiology, and sports studies (HKSS). The athletic training curriculum includes athletic training, therapy, administration. The health education curriculum includes health, safety, nutrition, diseases, substance use/abuse, curriculum design, global health issues. The kinesiology curriculum includes physical activities, wellness, dance, athletic injuries, driver education, coaching, administration, and supervision (soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, track/cross country/field, football, baseball), facilities and equipment, motor learning and development, fitness testing and exercise prescription. The recreation curriculum includes school and community recreation, outdoor education, camping and parks administration. Undergraduate and master’s majors and minors are offered. Athletic training is an undergraduate major only. State certification programs include all-level and secondary teacher and an endorsement program in driver education; these are accredited by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification.
