| GENERAL PURPOSE & SCOPE The James G. Gee Library collection supports the curriculum and research needs of undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty in the subject area of Counseling. The counseling curriculum includes human relations, human services, substance abuse, marriage and family therapy and counseling, career development, group therapy, school counseling, higher education student affairs, counseling theories, assessment, play therapy. Counseling is an undergraduate minor. Graduate study at the master’s level has three tracks: school counseling; student affairs practice in higher education; and community counseling. The doctoral level (Ph.D) track is counselor education. State licensure programs at the master’s level include professional counselor (LPC), and state certification programs at the master’s level include professional school counselor. The counseling curriculum is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs and by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification.
