Distance Education Interactive Video Procedures
To ensure the quality delivery of two-way interactive video instruction:
New faculty members must receive training in an orientation session covering use of the interactive video equipment and distance ed policies.
Faculty members are responsible for ensuring materials, tests, etc., are sent to the remote sites. (ITDE will provide assistance.) Faculty members are responsible for making copies for students at all sites.
Faculty members are responsible for originating the delivery of courses from each remote site at least onceeach semester. (ITDE will reimburse faculty for travel expenses for up to three trips to a remote site.)
Faculty members/departments are responsible for the proctoring of examinations. A proctor from the ITDE department may be available upon request, with 48 hours advance notice. Arrangements can also be made with site facilitators at all sites, but specific instructions should be provided to ITDE 48 hours prior to the day of the test.
Faculty members are responsible for checking with students periodically during the delivery of each session of instruction to determine if any transmission problems are occurring at remote sites
Two-way interactive video courses will be transmitted to a maximum of three remote sites.
Two-way interactive video courses will be transmitted to those sites at which a site facilitator is available during the hours in which the course is delivered.
If students have registered for instruction at a particular site, they must remain at that site for the entire semester. Exceptions can be made with permission from the Department of Instructional Technology and Distance Education.
Faculty members are asked to inform departmental offices and the Department of Instructional Technology and Distance Education of any changes in weekly schedules (e.g., if students are given a library assignment and will not be meeting) or if remote sites will be closed during the dates and times classes are scheduled. If possible, notification should be made at least one week before the change.
Although interactive video lectures are not automatically recorded and archived, classes may be video recorded upon specific instructor request. Student requests should be made through the instructor.
Faculty members are asked to request that all cell phones and wireless devices be completely deactivated when using interactive video rooms. Cell phone service signals often cause severe interference with the audio equipment, even when they are in vibrate or silent mode.
