Training Details: We are pleased to announce the second event in a series of collaborative professional development opportunities with the University of North Texas that focus specifically on topics related to online learning and the Principles of Good Practice. The series will be hosted between the two campuses via TTVN
and /or Web Conferencing in an effort to bring faculty together to develop a community of practice.

This second event, Ensuring Student Engagement in the Online Classroom, will focus specifically on the principles and practices, along with methods of implementation, that encourage student engagement in the online classroom to include:
- Fostering instructor/student, content/student, and student/student interaction
- Increasing instructor engagement/visibility
- Promoting active learning the process of providing opportunities for students to interact, write, relate and incorporate what they are learning into their own personal world view.

Faculty will be able to share ideas, concerns, and insight to ensuring and encouraging student engagement.

Training Details: The course is designed to provide instructors of online and web-enhanced courses with introductory level training on principles related to online instruction, and basic training in the use of eCollege--the Learning Management System (LMS) used by our University to deliver online and web-enhanced courses.

This course is designed to allow faculty opportunity to work through the course at an individual pace. Optional mini-demos on the use of common eCollege components are included. The course and resources provided therein will remain accessible to participants following completion of the course.

Faculty who have completed the training course have shared with us that "The course was especially well done and an excellent example for us neophytes to emulate...Thanks for getting me off on the right foot" and "I thoroughly enjoyed it and feel more confident in my ability to instruct online courses for the first time."
