What is my campus wide ID number (CWID)?

Your CWID is your identification number on campus and it is issued to you when you apply to the university (500xxxxx). This is a very important number that you will need to memorize because departments across campus will ask you for this number. It is also recommended to include this number with any email correspondence with departments on-campus as it is easier to identify a student with their CWID.

When will I be able to register for my courses?

All new and transfer international students must check-in with an international advisor and attend all sessions of the international orientation before they are eligible to register for courses.

Can I contact my academic department to discuss the courses I will need to register for my first semester?

Students are strongly encouraged to contact their academic department as soon as they are admitted to discuss their degree plan and the courses they will need to take their first semester. Please click here for information on academic departments. (link to http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/academics/azPrograms.aspx)

Where can I find a list of the classes offered?

Students may log into their myLeo account to see a list of courses offered for their first semester. (link to https://leo.tamu-commerce.edu/login.aspx). Your username/CWID will be your campus wide ID number (500xxxxx) and your password is your date of birth (mm/dd/yy).

How much will my tuition and fees be for my first semester?

New international students will often contact the International Student Services office (ISSO) prior to their first semester to inquire about the specific amount of their tuition and fees. The exact amount of the tuition and fees for a student cannot be known until the student has registered for courses and new international students cannot register for courses until completing check-in with an international advisor and attending the mandatory orientation.

The ISSO can only advise students that the estimated cost for tuition and fees for one year is $17,500.00 USD but this amount may vary depending on academic program and/or housing. We cannot provide the specific amount you will owe each semester.

The Bursar's office (Financial Services) located on the first floor of the McDowell Administration (BA) Building handles all tuition, fees, and payment questions. For more information or if you have any questions or concerns please click here. (link to http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/)

Am I required to purchase medical/repatriation insurance prior to the start of my first semester?

New international students are not required to purchase medical/repatriation prior to their first semester at A&M-Commerce. All international students are automatically enrolled in the A&M System insurance, AIP, each semester they are registered for classes at A&M-Commerce. The insurance premium is charged to student’s accounts and will need to be paid with their other tuition and fees. The insurance premium charge is not included with tuition and will appear as a separate fee on your student account. International students are required to make payment for the insurance premium by the 20th day of class or their classes will be dropped. For more information on the A&M System insurance please visit www.tamuinsurance.com.

Are there any vaccination requirements for the university?

The university does not have any mandatory vaccination requirements for international students. However, students planning on living in on-campus housing will be required to have a Meningitis vaccination at least 10 days prior to moving into on-campus housing or complete a waiver form. Please contact Residential Living and Learning at residencelife@tamu-commerce.edu for more information.

I am transferring to A&M-Commerce from another school in the U.S., do I have to transfer within a certain time frame?

USCIS regulations require students who have completed their academic program (i.e. graduated with Associates, Bachelors, Masters) or have completed their Optional Practical Training (OPT) to be transferred to their new school no later than 60 days after the conclusion of their academic program or OPT. Failure to be transferred within this timeframe will result in a visa status violation and may jeopardize your ability to continue your studies in the U.S.

I am transferring to A&M-Commerce from another school in the U.S., do I still have to attend international student orientation?

Yes. We realize that transfer students have already spent some time in the U.S. but it is the responsibility of the international student services office to ensure that students are ready to study at A&M-Commerce. The services, interpretation of regulations, or policies may be different from at our university than your previous school so it is required that all new international students attend the international student orientation.

I am a transfer student and need to renew my driver’s license, can you issue a letter for me prior to the start of my first semester?

The ISSO cannot issue a verification of enrollment letter which is required for a driver’s license by the Texas Department of Public Safety until the start of the new student’s first semester. However, Greenville, TX’s driver’s license office has informed the ISSO that in most cases they will issue a driver’s license for F-1 international students if they have their campus wide ID, their I-20, passport, visa, and I-94.
