Major Job Duties Further develop the strengths of the department through effective management and leadership. * Developing, implement and evaluate short and long-term department plans including the creation of a master's degree in criminal justice. *Further develop and encourage collaborations with community colleges, other TAMU-Commerce departments and the community * Commitment to the liberal arts mission of the college. * Faculty responsiblities including teaching, scholarly activity and service.
Minor Job Duties As assigned by the Dean and Provost
Required Education and Experience * Experience in multi-discipline department; * Earned Ph.D. in Sociology with research/teaching interests in some area of social inequalities, broadly defined. Other areas of specialty open, but should not duplicate areas of existing expertise within the department. * Ability to mentor and support a department within a larger emerging research university; * Commitment to liberal arts mission
Preferred Education and Experience * Qualifications include a distinguished record of research and publication suitable for an appointment as a full professor with tenure, * Evidence of leadership/administrative experience and ability.
