Major Job Duties The Department of Curriculum and Instruction invites applications for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education, or Curriculum and Instruction with an academic specialization in mathematics or a related field. The position will begin in the Fall 2010 semester, and will include duties at both the Commerce and Metroplex Campuses. Candidates must demonstrate a record of (or potential for) research, publication, and grant procurement. Primary responsibilities include: 1) teaching undergraduate, masters, and/or doctoral level courses; 2) mentoring and advising students; 3) chairing and serving on thesis and/or dissertation committees; 4) engaging in research and scholarly activities; 5) working with staff, faculty, and students to implement departmental programs; 6) providing service to the university, college, and department; and 7) procuring grants.

Required Education and Experience • An earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or Curriculum and Instruction with an academic specialization in mathematics or a related field • Three years of certified public school teaching experience in grades K-12 • Commitment to high quality teaching • Scholarly publication record or scholarly potential • Strong interpersonal skills • Dedication to high standards and student success.
Preferred Education and Experience • University teaching experience • Experience in field-based teacher education • Service to the profession, university, and community • Experience securing research and/or grants • Experience providing in-service training to adult learners • Competence in instructional applications of technology.

A doctoral program in Supervision, Curriculum, & Instruction is also offered.
