Major Job Duties As Chief Diversity Officer, the Associate Vice President for Equal Opportunity and Diversity shapes and leads the university’s embrace of diversity as fundamental to institutional excellence. He or she is expected, in close consultation with the President and Provost, senior leadership, and other administrators who have diversity as part of their responsibilities, to formulate and articulate a vision, provide leadership, counsel and advocacy, and be a point of connection and communication for all aspects of Texas A & M University-Commerce in achieving that vision.
Minor Job Duties In addition, the Associate Vice President for Equal Opportunity and Diversity serves as chief spokesperson related to diversity, inclusion, and equity at this institution. The Associate Vice President for Equal Opportunity and Diversity will guide new initiatives and work in collaboration with the university leadership, including each of the School's business line units to develop and oversee the execution of a coordinated and comprehensive diversity plan that will cultivate a supportive and stimulating environment for living, learning, and working together.
Required Education and Experience Requires a MBA or Master’s in a related field. Six years of professional administration, knowledge of federal and state employment law, employee relations and dispute resolution skills, and the ability to relate sensitively to persons of diverse backgrounds and ability levels; strong oral and written communication skills, previous supervisory experience. Four years of previous higher education experience.
Preferred Education and Experience Ph.D. and fluent in English and Spanish preferred.
