PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for advising TAMU-C students in developing
valid educational plans that are compatible with their life goals, as well as
maintaining current records in paper and electronic formats. Able to sustain a working relationship with multiple campus
departments and faculty advisors within the College of Arts & Sciences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Acts in lead capacity for Graduate Assistants and peer advisors.
Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Marginal Functions will vary with the specific assignment and depend on the particular unit or function for which the person is responsible. Consideration will be given on a case by case basis and reassignment of marginal duties will be made when appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in counseling or a related field. Understanding of student development with a sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse cultures required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills with interest and aptitude in working with students. Oral and written communications skills necessary. Comprehensive knowledge of the institution, its programs, academic requirements, majors, and student services, and computer application skills helpful.
