ABOUT
OUR PROGRAM...
The Athletic Training Education Program at Texas A&M University-Commerce has
recently received its CAATE accreditation. We submitted our
self-study in May 2004 and had our JRC-AT site visit this past October.
As of April 14, 2005, we have obtained our initial accreditation
status. This means that graduates of our program will be eligible to
sit for the national certification test as well as the state licensure test.
We are currently accredited through April 2010.
The current program staff is made up of
the following: program director, clinical coordinator, head
athletic trainer, assistant athletic trainer, several adjunct instructors, 2
team physicians and an average of 20 athletic training students.
Athletic training students gain valuable hands-on experience with the
clinical rotations. They receive the training necessary to pass state and
national examinations. Upon graduating, athletic training students can sit
for the state and national examinations assuming they have met all
requirements for those exams.
Current clinical sites being utilized for
clinical rotations are:
• Athletic Training / Rehabilitation Center Facility (located in the Field
House)
• T-Lounge Athletic Training Facility (located at the Stadium)
• Student Health Center (located on-campus in Henderson Hall)
• Wallace Orthopaedics (Rockwall, TX)
• Hulsey Therapy Services
(Commerce, TX)
• Live Oak Professional Center (Commerce, TX)
• Commerce High School (Commerce, TX)
• Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce (Commerce, TX)
• Hunt County EMS (Greenville, TX)
