Night Security
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Candidates for the night security position should enjoy
working with people.
-
Be responsible and dependable in their endeavors.
-
Display common sense, good judgment, tactfulness, and
understand the concept of confidentiality.
-
He/She should possess good communication skills, and
live in University housing at least one semester.
-
Preference will be given to qualified candidates currently
residing in University residence halls, in good academic
standing, and having no past judicial record with the
Department of Residence Life or the University.

Hall Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Night Security Clerk is responsible for the following areas:

Maintain the office in a neat and businesslike manner.

Make hourly rounds of the residence hall, checking or
locking (according to specific policies) appropriate
doors and gates.

Maintain order in the lobby and entrance areas, closing
visitation at the designated hours.

Convey information to residents and guests at the counter
and over the phone.

Check out equipment and keys according to the hall
policy.
-
Keep an accurate log of any and all incidents, including
noise complaints, fights, problems, etc.

Fill out repair requests for the hall director when
repairs are reported by the residents.
-
Fill out incident, fire, or theft reports when the
situation warrants such a report and refer these to
the hall director.

Contact the hall director when any major incidents occur.
i.e., fire, major maintenance concerns, physical
violence, and any other incidents night security may feel
needs immediate attention.

Contact the RA on duty when noise complaints, visitation
violations, alcohol concerns, and other minor incidents
occur.

Be familiar with emergency procedures in case of fire,
tornado, electrical failures, bomb threats, and assist
the residence hall staff in building evacuation when
necessary.

Notify University Police Department when necessary, after
calling the hall director.

Be familiar with the policies and procedures in the
Calendar and Residence Guide, such as alcohol/drugs,
visitation, pets, thefts, vandalism, etc.

Attend in-service training sessions and designated
staff meetings throughout the year.
