Art Day

Dear Art Day-2009 Participants:

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Art at Texas A&M University-Commerce, I am pleased to invite you to our annual Art Day held this year on Saturday, October 31, 2008. Art Day is open to high school juniors and seniors and to junior college Art and Photography majors. Art Day is a full day of hands-on workshops, informational sessions, portfolio reviews, and a scholarship competition juried by outside art professionals. In addition to the various hands-on workshops, informational sessions are scheduled for parents, teachers, and students. These sessions discuss all areas of the Department of Art. We invite teacher and parent observation in all of the workshops. Sign up and join the fun!

As part of Mane Event Preview Day, Art Day offers students and teachers additional opportunities to participate in the many activities of that event, including a full day of informational sessions on admissions, academic programs, financial aid, housing, and the social and academic organizations of Texas A&M University-Commerce. The University Fair is of special interest with its booths and displays representing the wide range of A&M-Commerce's academic and extracurricular programs.

Mane Event Preview Day registration is free but must be completed separately. Registration in Mane Event Preview Day entitles our participants to a continental breakfast and lunch in the Student Center dining facilities as well as eligibility in the drawing to win a scholarship. On the day of the event, Art Day participants first register for Mane Event Preview Day then come to the Art Day check-in to register, check-in, and enter your portfolio if you are competing in the Art Day Scholarship competition. Registration will be held in the Art Department.

Art Day Workshops fill up fast, so we encourage early registration, either online, by fax, or by mail. (See link below for pre-registration and schedule information.). Early registration for Art Day starts October 9, 2009 and continues until noon, Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Onsite registration and check-in for pre-registrants is from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. the day of the event at the Art Day Booth located in the Art Department.

On behalf of the Art faculty, staff, and students, I want to say how much we are looking forward to hosting you on a day that promises to be both fun and informative!

Sincerely,

Joseph Daun, Department Head
