World Premier of Reason for Referral

What do Van Gogh, Ernest Hemingway, Vivien Leigh, Ben Stiller and Ashley Judd have in common?

All five of these artists have shaped our culture while struggling with debilitating depression and disorder.

In the world of art, where there are no boundaries—how do you know where creativity stops and disorder begins? Is there an element of chaos in creation? Is madness often the muse? Such are the questions explored by playwright and Texas A&M University-Commerce graduate alumni Lacy Lalene Lynch in the original new play, Reason For Referral, which combines original live music, visual art, and theater in an intense, heartfelt, quirky and often humorous look at three young college students who are struggling to express themselves and make sense of a world that doesn't understand them. In the end, all three individuals must ask themselves if their creativity is a blessing or a curse.

The play has been performed and well received in New York, Waco, Commerce, and Dallas as a stage reading, but is premiering for the first time as a full production at The Dallas Hub Theater this April. It is being produced in collaboration with Texas A&M University-Commerce. It is directed by Commerce graduate student, Atseko Factor and features original live music by Jordan Barrick. The cast is made up of Commerce students and includes Danielle Reeves, Nathan Jacobs, Sarah Ragsdale, Gerald Taylor, Angelica Jackson, Chris Wyatt, Stacey Elder, and Jacob Layton.

Showtimes are April 4, 12, 25, 26 @ 8:15 pm and Sunday, April 6 & 13 @ 2:30 pm at The Dallas Hub Theater, 2809 Canton Street.
