Text Box: Incoming Students—
The Mattie Baker Prize for Merit for an Incoming Student
For High School seniors who plan to major in history and will enter A&M-Commerce as freshmen in the fall semester.  Send a copy of your high school transcript, 3 letters of recommendation, a copy of ACT or SAT scores, and a letter of interest explaining your career plans and how history fits into those plans.  Due by February 1, 2008.

 Texas A&M-Commerce undergraduate history majors who have completed at least nine hours in history may apply.  Submit a paper written for a history course, and an essay on how history fits into your future plans.

Text Box: Current Students—                            $1000
The Smyrl-Bidwell History Award
For Texas A&M-Commerce history majors who have completed at least 21 hours in history, at least nine of which must be advanced, and who will be officially classified as seniors by the end of the semester in which the application is being made.  Submit a history paper of at least 2500 words, a statement of personal background and future plans, a college transcript and 3 letters of recommendation (at least 2 of which must be from TAMU-Commerce faculty).  An interview will follow receipt of application.  The winner must attend the University Honor’s Day ceremony to receive the award.  Application is due by February 1, 2008.
Oval: Joe Fred and Jane Cox Scholarship
History major classified as a junior with a GPA of at least 3.0, enrolled as a full-time student in good standing with TAMU-Commerce may apply for consideration.  Apply by Feb.1, 2008.
