Initial Information for Submitting an External Grant Proposal
Principal Investigator's Name: Enter name of the employee responsible for overseeing the grant, conducting the research and approving expenditures.
Department: Enter name of PI’s department

Grant: A grant has the principal purpose to transfer funds, property, services or anything of value to the state or local government or other recipients in order to accomplish a public purpose of support or incentive authorized by federal statute.
Agreement: A document containing all standard clauses applying to future contracts between parties.
Contract: Principal purpose is acquisition by purchase, lease or barter of property or services for the direct benefit or use of the federal government.
Subcontract: A document written under the authority of, and consistent with the terms and conditions of an award that transfers a portion of a project to another institution or organization.
Gift/Donation: Funds from nongovernmental organizations individuals, including funds for the furnishing of goods and services of an instructional, research or public service nature.
Name of Funding Agency:  Enter the name of the agency that the proposal will be submitted to for funding.

Governmental:

(Federal or State)

Federal government supported agencies such as department of defense, department of education, department of human health services, national science foundation, national aeronautics and space administration and the department of energy as well as state and local governments including cities, counties, townships, boroughs and school districts.
Foundation: An entity that is established as a nonprofit corporation or a charitable trust, with a principal purpose of making grants to unrelated organizations or institutions or to individuals for scientific, educational, cultural, religious or other charitable purposes.
Corporation: A for-profit business.
Individual: Person
Other: All other types that are not mentioned above.
Agency's RFP number: Enter the number associated with the “Request for Proposal”. Usually only government agencies have RFP#.
Funding opportunity number: Enter the Funding opportunity number
CFDA number: Enter the CFDA number
Program Name: Enter the name of the specific program within the RFP (not all RFP’s will have program name).
