Message from Dean Headley
Texas A&M University-Commerce is truly committed to the creation of new knowledge and innovative ideas through research for the benefit of society. Our growth in research over the past few years has been exceptional and a quality research environment is being built for our faculty and students, both graduate and undergraduate. Our faculty members are passionate about their research and are recognized nationally and internationally.
Our interdisciplinary research program in computational science involves professors from the computer science and psychology departments in which they investigate how computers can effectively perform cognitive tasks. Our undergraduate research programs are one of the most recognized in the region. Our NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduate program attracts undergraduate from a number of neighboring community colleges to our research labs so that they can gain valued research experience and in the use of various state-of-the-art instrumentation of chemistry, biology and physics. Through a US department of education grant, a group of researchers tries to determine how teachers can better meet the needs of English Language Learners. Another project seeks to determine how to effectively diagnose the educational needs of culturally and linguistically diverse exceptional learners.
