  • Have a high school diploma or a GED (general equivalency diploma).
  • Be enrolled or accepted for admission by the university as a regular student and working toward a degree or certificate in an eligible program.

  • Be registered with the Selective Service, if required. enroll in and maintain at least a half-time class load and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility is not determined by income alone. Many students believe they will not be eligible for any student aid and do not apply. Students who are considering attending college/university should apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Student Aid and let the college/university determine eligibility.

Generally speaking, all students are eligible for some type of aid.

Aid includes both need-based (grants, scholarships, work-study and subsidized loans) and non-need based aid.

    Withdrawing on Aid/All Fs

Recognizing students have bad semesters; in most cases, due to circumstances beyond their control. Financial aid policies and procedures require monitoring of enrollment/grade status and GPA per semester to evaluate continued eligibility for financial aid. Because of this, our SAP policy explains monitoring of these actions. The links below will provide more specific information about our policy. In general, students who withdraw on aid (officially or unofficially) may be liable to the univerisity for a portion of aid credited to their account. Similarly, students who receive all fs in a term may find themselves also owing a debt to the institution. Should either of the above occur, our office is ready to assist students to resolve these situations and regain elibility as quickly as possible.

    Dropping Courses

In general, any change of enrollment has the potential to affect student financial aid. Students who are considering dropping a course or making other changes to their student schedule may be advised to contact financial aid before doing so. This allows most students to determine the effect of changes to their aid before making a final decision of changes to their schedule. Students are encouraged to contact us by e-mail, phone or in person regardig changes to their schedule.
