International Studies Grants are available for faculty through the Faculty Development Committee. Historically, grants were awarded for faculty to participate in the International Studies Program through the University of Southern Mississippi (USM).* However, faculty may submit proposals to participate in programs other than those sponsored by the University of Southern Mississippi. The Committee will also consider proposals seeking funding for travel to present papers at international conferences, to engage in collaborative research and for other academically significant forms of faculty development.
The grants will be allocated using the following guidelines:
If participating in an organized international studies program, provide an original brochure that provides pertinent information, including program costs, dates of travel, and courses offered. The Committee will give preference to these requests.
If presenting a paper at an international conference, provide a letter of acceptance and/or a copy of the conference program with your name listed as a presenter.
If engaging in collaborative research, provide evidence of prior collaboration, such as previous co-authored publications, conference presentations, working papers, etc.
All applications must be complete & received by the deadline. An application will not be considered complete unless the packet contains confirmation or verification of activity. If the applicant has not received confirmation, an explanation must be provided in the cover letter. The confirmation document must be provided as soon as possible. All awards, even if approved by the committee, will not be granted or paid until a confirmation document is received.
STATEMENT:
Grants are competitive and awarded based on information provided in the application. Grant awards are application specific and cannot be transferred from one event/location/purpose to another without prior approval from the Faculty Development Committee.Click here to get the Application Form
